About Me
I am a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from San Diego, CA. I study at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media with a second major in psychology. I am also earning a Certificate in Business Communication. Outside of the classroom, I am a senior writer for the University Desk at The Daily Tar Heel student newspaper, field producer for the Carolina Week livestreamed spring special show and a service fundraising chair in the community service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. I am also the fundraising chair of UNC’s chapter of the literacy nonprofit Ballet & Books and a dancer with Blank Canvas Dance Company. I am passionate about sharing the truth and aspire to do this no matter my future career path. I enjoy engaging with communities and hope to give a voice to those who are often not heard.
My Story
Since elementary school, I have had a love for writing and storytelling. In high school, I served as Editor-in-Chief and Co-Editor-in-Chief of my school’s yearbook for two years, as well as Co-Editor-in-Chief of Bema, our art and literary magazine, my senior year. I became passionate about preserving memories and creating meaningful publications that resonate with the experiences of those I cover. I also interned and was hired as a part-time staff writer at the Coronado Eagle, a local publication in San Diego that prints two community newspapers weekly and one magazine monthly. These experiences all led me to Hussman and inspired me to pursue a career in the journalism and communications field. I have recent experience interning for Power Digital (a marketing agency), Congruent Leadership (a psychology-based executive development company), Mags Creative (a podcast agency in London) and the Carolina Alumni Review (a bimonthly magazine). I plan to continue taking a variety of courses during my time at UNC to explore the paths I can take in this industry.
